10 slices of day-old bread, buttered
1/2 cup of raisins
4 cups of milk
3 large eggs
3/4 cup of granulated sugar
2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
Nutmeg, for grating on top

Directions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Arrange half of the buttered bread slices in the bottom of a baking dish.
Sprinkle raisins evenly over the bread.
Layer the remaining bread slices on top.
In a mixing bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon.
Pour the custard mixture over the bread layers, ensuring all pieces are soaked.
Let sit for 10 minutes to absorb the liquid.
Grate nutmeg over the top to taste.
Bake in preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the top is golden and the custard is set.
Serve warm.
